Activities at Freilinger Lake
Visitors to Freilinger Lake will find everything their heart desires in their leisure time and can partake in various activities on and in the water: windsurfing, diving, rowing, paddling, swimming (at their own risk), fishing for perch, pike, or roach (fishing permits are available at the reception), as well as hiking.

Around the lake, there are spacious sunbathing areas where locals and tourists can relax while sunbathing or picnicking. A Nordic walking trail marked with information boards offers fans of this sport a pleasant walking route.

A kiosk provides refreshments.
Grill enthusiasts are also well catered for: 2 barbecue facilities (one larger that accommodates about 100 people and a smaller one that fits around 50 people) with electricity and water connections, as well as a total of 3 swing grills, can be rented from the municipality of Blankenheim.

The Eifel Camp, located directly by the lake, offers overnight accommodations for camping vacationers.

Tip for holidays with a dog:
At Freilinger Lake, there is a designated dog beach.
Dogs must be kept on a leash. A section of the sunbathing area is designated for stays with dogs. Access to the water is permitted for dogs in a marked area.

Data, facts, and location:
Freilinger Lake is located southeast of Blankenheim on the border of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in a valley, surrounded by extensive forests and meadows. Freilinger Lake is a reservoir that has existed since 1976 and is fed by fresh spring water. It was built for rainwater retention and tourism purposes. Its surface area is about 11 hectares, and its catchment area is around 5 km². The dam is 25 m high and approximately 500 m long. The maximum depth of the lake is around 10 m.
