First mentioned in 1259, archaeological excavation finds suggest that a moth existed here in the 11th/12th centuries: a tower hill castle, a wooden defensive tower on a mound – surrounded by a moat.
In 1755 it passed into bourgeois hands, in 2001 it was acquired by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, built a guest house and reopened the former Müller cloth factory as an industrial museum, where you can find everything as on the last working day in 1961. Spinning machines, looms and even the steam engine run and demonstrate the cloth production of that time.
