Mindener Museum

The museum is located in the Museum Row, consisting of six town houses from the Weser Renaissance period. Situated in the picturesque "Upper Old Town" of Minden, the museum is one of the city's most popular photo motifs.

It offers numerous surprises inside and out: Stucco ornaments, stone reliefs, fireplaces or a 16th century hoist and numerous traces of former residents make the museum row the most important exhibit.

The interactive city model "Minden Fortress in 1873" and the "Showcase of the City's History" with objects ranging from a hand axe to a handball trophy offer an introduction to Minden's history. Rare gold guilders are on display and visitors can learn exciting facts about the Weser Renaissance and the region's sandstones. In addition to the history of Minden beer, the history of the use of fire and the fight against fires and floods is also told. The Battle of Minden in 1759 is thematised under the title "Facts, Fictions, Research". 
 
Special exhibitions on the history, art and culture of the town and region, the former prince-bishopric of Minden and today's Minden-Lübbecke district, are shown on around 650 square metres of exhibition space.
