Minden City Library

The Minden City Library is a cultural, learning and meeting place for children, young people and adults.


The Minden City Library is part of the Weingarten Education Centre and offers all interested citizens of the district a diverse range of media in printed, audiovisual and digital media for use on site or for loan. Around 85,000 tangible media and the e-media of Onleihe OWL with around 80,000 licences as well as other various digital offers such as Brockhaus online, the music streaming offer Freegal and various apps such as U-Talk for language learning or Tigerbooks can be borrowed.
The rooms on the first and second floor can be used as a meeting place and a place to learn and spend time. Internet workstations + free WiFi access are available for this purpose. Learning groups can work together in the building.
One of the Minden City Library's main focuses is on promoting reading and media skills among children. To this end, it has its own media education room, COLLABS, where programmes for children and young people as well as adults take place under the guidance of a media educator.
A wide range of events offers space for literature, art and the promotion of creativity, and the city library is also active in the intercultural field.

Children and young people up to the age of 18 can use the library free of charge.
For adults the use costs
3.00 per month (no discount)
23.00 per year
Duo-Card for couples and cohabiting couples
34.00 € (no discount)
If a direct debit authorization is issued, the annual fee and the Duo-Card are reduced by €2 per year.
The annual fee is reduced by 50% for recipients of benefits according to SGN II, SGB XII and AsylBLG, recipients of housing benefit and child supplement, pupils over the age of 18, students, trainees and graduates of the federal voluntary service and the voluntary social year, as well as holders of the volunteer card, and holders of the Weser-Werre-Pass and reading sponsors of the Kinderschutzbund.

Minden is very well connected to the road and rail networks and can therefore always be reached quickly and safely.
