Museum Prüm

With over 12,000 exhibits on 1,300 square meters, the Prüm Museum is one of the largest museums in the Eifel.

The development of the town of Prüm, starting with the first monastery foundation 712 and the new founding in 752 by the parents Karl the Great and thus the close connection between Prüm and the Carolingians is documented here. The history of the Abbey of Prüm, the abbey of Niederrpüm and the choir-prince of Prüm is also illustrated by photographs and reports.

The extensive connections of the Abbey of Prüm to France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands provided the museum with many cultural assets.

The growth of craftsmanship from its beginnings to early industrialization makes up the largest part of the museum. Even in a very early period, Prüm was the center of a principality, then a superinstitute, and finally a district of many craft enterprises. A carpentry, a smithy, a cobblestone, a linen and cloth weaving and a roofing show show how a long time ago the work was done.

A fire brigade with an old fire engine, a school, the post office or the pharmacy supplement the way of life of the people long ago in the field of services. More than 150 dolls from all over the world and world-famous companies, teddies, dolls' houses, puppet theater and toy toys will take you to the world of children.
