Army bakery

Built from stone in 1832, the army bakery served its original purpose until it was destroyed by German troops at the end of the Second World War.

Supplying the Prussian military in the fortress was of particular importance, which is why the bakery and the neighbouring grain store were located in the middle of the town.

Just behind the army bakery is the synagogue of the Jewish religious community of Minden and the surrounding area. The current synagogue was built in 1958 next to the site of the former synagogue from 1865, which was destroyed in 1938 during the November pogroms. This made Minden one of the first cities in Germany to reopen a synagogue after the Second World War.
