The ruins of the castle Freudenkoppe on the Nerother Kopf is throughout the year open. You can't reach the ruins directly with the car!

 

The castle was built in 1340 by King John of Bohemia, Count of Luxembourg to fortify its borders. But already in 1346 the castle fell into the hands of the Elector of Trier. The castle is abandoned in the second half of the 15th century.

Between 1984 and 1985 is the castle (protection of monuments) renovated.
