The famous baroque master builder Balthasar Neumann was won over as an architect for the church. The client for this was the noble family of the Counts von der Leyen.

The only church in the Diocese of Trier under the patronage of Saint Cäcilia was designed in the classic Main Franconian Baroque style by the famous Balthasar Neumann.
The client was Karl Kasper Graf von der Leyen, who lives in Saffig.
It was completed in 1742.
Inside the church there are splendid carvings and furnishings from the era.
The baptismal font made from local basaltic lava bears the year 1703 in the base and comes from the previous church. Further information on the history of the Baroque Church of St. Cäcilia is available on the parish website.
