The Wiehengebirge is known far beyond the Minden-Lübbecke district and is popular with hikers and nature lovers. It is part of the TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark and has been awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status. The mountain range stretches along the towns of Preußisch Oldendorf, Lübbecke, Hüllhorst and Hille and offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities.
The region is particularly well-known for its many hiking trails of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. Whether a leisurely stroll or a more challenging tour - the Wiehengebirge offers something for everyone. The most famous hiking trail is the Wittekindsweg, which leads from Osnabrück to the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument and runs through the beautiful Wiehengebirge.
In addition to the hiking trails, the Wiehengebirge also impresses with its cultural highlights. There are two open-air theatres right on the mountain slopes, which regularly offer a varied program in the summer months and are an ideal addition to a hiking vacation.
