Theatre/variety show

The Hagen Theatre is one of the architectural landmarks of our city. The theatre owes its appearance to a competition held in 1909 to obtain designs for a new theatre building. The architect Ernst Vetterlein won the competition and the new theatre was opened in October 1911. The entrance front is adorned with four female figures, each 2.50 m high, by the sculptor Milly Steger, who caused a stir because of their nudity.

The offerings of the Hagen Theatre can be divided into five sections: Musical theatre, ballet, drama, children's and youth theatre and concerts of the Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen.

With this offer, the Theatre Hagen reaches around 175,000 visitors annually.

You grew up in Hagen? Then you probably know the theatre from an early age through the fairy tale at Christmas time, which is visited by many school classes every year.
