Tourist attractions – various Venue

Centrally located in Borken is the Provost Church of St. Remigius with its generously inviting church square. The church has continued to grow over the centuries and today presents itself with an impressive Romanesque tower and three late Gothic naves.

History

Pounds from the 1950s indicate a first church building of St. Remigius from the 8th century. The construction of a Romanesque church followed in the 12th century. Parts of the tower are still preserved from that time. In the 15th century, the church was further extended. It became a collegiate church and was rebuilt into a hall church in the Gothic style.

During the Second World War, St. Remigius was severely damaged and rebuilt in 1967.

Tour information

The Probsteikirche St. Remigius can also be visited outside of service times. The Tourist Information Borken offers special church tours in conjunction with a guided tour of the town.
