With its Wilhelminian-style buildings, many owner-operated shops and the Ostfriedhof (East Cemetery) as a green area, the Kaiserviertel in Dortmund is considered extremely liveable and lovable. Similar to the Kreuzviertel, some 19th century buildings here have survived the world wars unscathed and decorate the streets with their Art Nouveau elements and beautiful façades, for example in Bismarckstraße.
Another special street in the Kaiserviertel is Moltkestraße. In spring, it turns into a cherry blossom avenue! When the cherry trees blossom, depending on the temperature in March and April, many onlookers come to Moltkestraße to admire and photograph the delicate pink splendour.
