nature experiences - various Nature reserve/natural monument

In the Davert nature reserve, every effort is made to protect and preserve the region's original timber stock. The area of the Hohe Ward and the Davert together form the largest contiguous forest area in the region. The tree population consists mainly of oaks, hornbeams and fluttering elms. They provide a home for numerous woodpeckers, butterflies and bats.

Accessibility

The Emmerbachaue in the nature reserve has been awarded the "Resien for All" certificate and can easily be visited by people in wheelchairs.

Information for cyclists
If you leave Münster on a bicycle heading south, you will almost inevitably pass through the Davert nature reserve. The forests offer cooling shade, especially in summer. South of the Davert, the Münsterland castles and palaces region opens up with some of its most beautiful buildings. Westerwinkel Castle, Nordkirchen Castle and Vischering Castle can be reached practically without climbing any major metres.
Numerous interesting and scenically particularly beautiful themed routes for cyclists run through the Münsterland. To the west of the Davert runs the "Historic Town Centres Cycle Route", to the east is the 100 Castles Route.
