Schützenmuseum

Since the spring of 2015, the town of Büren has had a new museum: the St. Sebastian Brotherhood of Büren has set up a shooting museum in Büren's Owl Tower on the east wall. It is one of two remaining towers from the medieval town fortifications.

Old documents, everyday objects, uniforms and flags are exhibited on two floors.

On the first floor of the tower, documents about 600 years of town fortifications in Büren and evidence about the use of marksmen in witch trials can be seen. On the upper floor, visitors can get an idea of the more than 525-year history of marksmen in the town of Büren.

Special emphasis is placed on the rules and regulations of marksmen at the end of the Middle Ages and in the early modern period. The attempts of the Nazis to suppress marksmanship outside of Nazi organizations are also presented. Utility items from the 19th century, medals and uniforms from the 20th century complete the picture of the oldest club in Büren.
