Founded in 1962, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is under state sponsorship and is one of the ten largest universities in Germany.
In addition to 42,000 students, of whom more than 6,700 are international students from over 130 different countries, the university employs more than 6,000 staff and a total of 500 professors and junior professors in around 28,000 rooms. In addition to the teaching buildings, IT services, university sports facilities and research facilities such as RUBION, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum also includes the Centre for Music, the Art Collections, the State Language Institute, the Centres for Foreign Language Training and Science Didactics, as well as the University Library and the Botanical Garden.
