Information for cyclists
St. Dionysius Church is located in Havixbeck, in the middle of the beautiful Baumberge hills. The rolling hills are particularly popular with cyclists and hikers. With its direct location, the church offers a wonderful resting place for the following cycle routes, both as a starting point and as a stopover: D-Netz 3 Route, Europa-Radweg R1 as well as the Sandstone Route, where cyclists follow the tracks of the famous Baumberg Sandstone.
The climbs in the Baumberge are rewarded with magnificent views over the Münsterland region. The highest point is on the Westerberg in Nottuln. Many small, cosy town centres, full of history and charm, are waiting to be discovered on a cycle tour.
Havixbeck is located in the Knotenpunksystem NRW 13.
Information for hikers
Around St. Dionysius Church is the outstandingly hikeable region of the Baumberge. The gentle hills of the southern Münsterland are particularly popular for extended hikes and cycling tours.
For those who prefer to follow in the footsteps of the town of Havixbeck, the route H1 of the Baumberge-Touristik is just right. The six-kilometre route leads directly along the church square and through the town centre as well as past the Sandstein Museum and through the two towns of Poppenbeck and Lasbeck. The other five H-tours are more extensive: the longest of the routes (H6) is up to 15 kilometres long and has an altitude difference of almost 200 metres.
