Federal Association for Equestrian Sport and Horse Breeding

The German Equestrian Federation (FN) is the umbrella organisation for equestrian sport in Germany. It was founded in 1905 and has its headquarters in Warendorf. The FN (Fédération Équestre Nationale) is responsible for the promotion, development and regulation of equestrian sport in Germany. However, the FN also deals with the topics of horse keeping and breeding.

The FN has various tasks and responsibilities. It is committed to the training of riders and horses and lays down the examination regulations and guidelines for tournaments and competitions. The FN is also responsible for the education of trainers and judges.

Since 1951, the headquarters of the German Equestrian Federation have been located on the northern outskirts of the equestrian capital Warendorf. The German Olympic Committee for Equestrianism, DOKR for short, is affiliated to it.

Information for riders
Warendorf's network of riding routes runs directly across the FN grounds into the adjacent forest area where the Bundeschampionate are held in late summer.
In and around Warendorf there are many opportunities for great day or trail rides.
Guided tours
A one-hour guided tour can be requested from the Tourist Information of the City of Warendorf. The tour provides insights into the joint location of the German Olympic Committee for Equestrianism and the German Equestrian Federation. During the tour it is possible to visit the sports facilities and grounds and feel the atmosphere of intensive training and sensational successes there.

Numerous themed cycle routes offer interesting cycling tours through Münsterland. The signposted themed cycle routes each show very specific contents of the region and thus tell exciting stories about Münsterland. The following themed cycle route runs close to the FN site:
Historic town centres
The entrance to the approx. 4500 kilometre long Münsterland cycle path network is located at Dr.-Rau-Allee. Those who prefer to explore the surroundings of Warendorf by bicycle can use the designated cycle path network. Popular destinations are the double castle complex Harkotten, the historic city centre of Telgte or Münster with its numerous leisure facilities. Relaxed cycling tours along the Ems are also an option.

There are sufficient parking spaces for visitors at the German Equestrian Federation.
Arrival
The FN is located on the northern outskirts of Warendorf and is signposted in the town area.
Arrival by car:
B64 federal road, junction to the A2 motorway. Coming from Hanover, take the Rheda-Wiedenbrück exit. From the Ruhr area, take the Beckum exit.
B475 federal road, junction in a north-westerly direction to the A1 motorway.

Railway line: Münster - Bielefeld
Regional train 67/71 ("Der Warendorfer")
Distance from station: approx. 3 kilometres
Travelling by bus
from Münster: S20 express bus in the direction of Warendorf, exit at Warendorf railway station
from Warendorf station take bus line B5 to the Tönneburg stop, from there approx. 500 metres to the FN
