Church

The Carthusian church, which has been used by the Protestant community since 1928, was built in the second half of the 14th century for the Carthusian Order. The church is characterised by its classical Gothic design and is surrounded by other buildings, such as the chapter house and the remains of the cloisters. The entire complex had to be rebuilt, and in some cases reconstructed, after severe war damage.

The interior of the Carthusian Church is characterised by furnishings from the 1950s, including the altar and pulpit by Gerhard Marcks and the coloured windows by Charles Crodel. The Cologne painter Jürgen Hans Grümmer later also contributed to the decoration of the church with his triptych 'The Holy Family'.
