Huxarium Garden Park Höxter

The Huxarium Garden Park Höxter was created as part of the 2023 State Garden Show and is an attractive destination between the city wall, the Weser and the Corvey World Heritage Site.

The Huxarium Garden Park connects the historic half-timbered town with the World Heritage Site in Corvey.  The former garden show site stretches from the rampart along the flower-lined town wall across the riverside promenade to the baroque castle in the Weser arch. At the foot of the Carolingian Westwerk, the Remtergarten attracts visitors with its lush variety of roses, perennials, vegetables and medicinal plants.  The neighboring archaeology park brings a lost medieval city back to life. From there, it is only a few steps through the Tagliliental valley to the Weserscholle - a picnic meadow high above the river with a magnificent view. There you can refresh tired feet in the ponds in the shady meadow garden and stroll through the creation garden. Three large playgrounds and a marble run make the Huxarium a family destination.  A steamboat tour or a ride on the popular Bimmelbahn are also available. Throughout the year, events such as a plant and medieval market, asparagus days and an autumn light event provide variety.
 
Remtergarten
Under the protection of high monastery walls, all kinds of things thrive under the double towers of the westwork from the time of Charlemagne: Roses, magnificent perennials and rare woody plants such as the bluebell or handkerchief tree make gardeners' hearts beat faster. The apothecary garden shows the healing art of the Benedictine monks. In the kitchen cabinet, visitors can trace the development of the kitchen garden and discover edible flowers. The geophyte meadow is a show from spring to summer with a sea of daffodils, bluebells and prairie lilies. In May, allium balls are enthroned in the beds, while in midsummer, sunflower meets parsley and cabbage. In the fall, the Remtergarten celebrates the dahlia.  The modern interpretation of the monastery garden is a delightful stop for cyclists on the Weser cycle path. Just one step through the gate and you're in a flower paradise.
 
Archaeology Park
Anno 1265 - the neighbors from Höxter and the Bishop of Paderborn attack the up-and-coming town of Corvey and burn it to the ground. The archaeology park makes it possible to digitally experience the desolation on the ground. Using augmented reality, the market church and Weser bridge appear on the cell phone display. On the Hellweg, visitors can see a horse-drawn carriage or meet the guard at the town palisade. In wooden cubes, visitors encounter medieval people in radio plays, for example the famous surgeon from the Weser. He was known for his cataracts and even his surgical instruments were found right here. You can even look over the archaeologist's shoulder during a real excavation or pick up a trowel yourself. A beekeeper's garden and a nature garden forum showcase insect-friendly gardening and an agri-photovotaic plant with hydrogen production demonstrates the energy generation of the future.
