Train station

Hagen main station is a long-distance, regional and suburban railway station with 10 platforms.

Hagen's main railway station was officially opened to traffic in 1910. It features a neo-baroque hall building with a tall clock tower designed by architect Walter Morin. Karl Ernst Osthaus had campaigned in vain to create a building in the  "New Style" here too. However, he succeeded in having a glass window designed by Jan Thorn-Prikker inserted into the arch above the main entrance. The programmatic title  "The artist as teacher for trade and commerce" emphasises the claim of the comprehensive art mission of Karl Ernst Osthaus.
