Modern column in front of the Martinus church.

The Agatha statue (Josef Baron) stands in front of the side entrance of the Martinus church. This modern figure in gold-plated bronze reminds of the city patron Saint Agatha since 1979.
On four boards she is asked for protection against fire because Olpe has burned down several times. Most recently, the citizens experienced the horror of the fire following bombing raids in World War II. But they also ask for protection from hunger, protection from water and protection from escape that the refugees and displaced people had to suffer after the World War II.
