The forest chapel Hünkesohl is easily accessible on foot for older people. The path through the city park Lohmühle leads over the Wormickebrücke. Behind it the street In der Trift is crossed. in order to have the signposted path to the Hünkesohl in mind. At the destination it says: 'Greetings to Mary in quiet forest solitude'.
The forest chapel Hünkesohl, far from the traffic and noise of the street and romantically located in the forest, is a popular place of pilgrimage and prayer. It owes its origin to a humble woman: Theresia Berg (1861-1929) (Fig.) who has already become a legend. It is said that one day a gust of wind blew a crumpled picture of Mary when she was hating or fetching wood. She pinned this picture to a tree with her hairpin to pray from now on and she always bring fresh flowers that she picked along the way. She replaced the paper picture, as it fell apart, with a simple figure of Mary. This happened in the years before the First World War.
The forest chapel Hünkesohl is a popular place of pilgramage in Drolshagen with always well-kept facilities.
