Sculpture

The bronze statue "The Marten" is enthroned on a stone plinth and holds a golden egg in its paws - a symbol of its favourite food, eggs, and of life itself. Hidden under its tail is a model car, which refers to the tendency of modern martens to damage cables in cars. The detailed, realistic depiction of the sculpture brings the animal almost to life and emphasises both its historical connection to egg thefts and its modern challenges in today's urban environment.
