Peter Minuit Monument

The monument commemorates the “founder” of New York, Peter Minuit from Wesel. According to the story, Peter Minuit bought the island of Manhattan from the North American natives for 60 guilders in the 1620s and thus laid the foundation stone for what would later become the city of New York.
