LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel

The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum is prominently located in the Citadel in Wesel and will reopen in February 2025 with the new permanent exhibition.

ATTENTION: The house is closed to visitors from Sep. 1st 2024 until the end of Feb. 2025. Individual events will take place!

From regional history to world history, the LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel presents its permanent and special exhibitions in the former fortress.

Life on the Lower Rhine is illuminated across borders and includes the Netherlands. The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum in Wesel has already shown how closely German and Dutch history are linked with its previous permanent exhibition “Wesel and the Lower Rhine Lands”. But the museum team is now working on presenting what makes a good neighborhood and life in the middle of Europe so special!

The museum is undergoing a transformation on its way to becoming a family museum: by the end of 2024, space will be created for a modern, attractive and inclusive design of the museum, which will reopen in February 2025. Until then, special exhibitions and activity days will be inviting visitors. The museum will be closed from September 1 until it reopens!

- Assistance dogs may be brought along.

- Guided tours with DGS interpreters are available.

- The doors open automatically on approach or at the touch of a button.
