    Haus Empte, picturesquely situated between the Welter Bach stream and the Karthäuser Mühlenbach nature reserve in Dülmen, is a historical gem in the Münsterland region. The origins of the estate date back to the 9th century, when it was first mentioned as "Emnithi". Over the centuries, the estate has changed hands several times, including important Westphalian aristocratic families such as the Lords of Raesfeld and von Merveldt. The latter had today's manor house built between 1767 and 1770, whose single-storey quarry stone architecture has been preserved to this day. The 15th century gatehouse, which forms the entrance to the inner courtyard, is characteristic of the complex. The main house, the gatehouse and the surrounding buildings have been listed since 1985. Thanks to loving restoration work, Haus Empte shines in new splendour and was awarded the monument plaque of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2022. Although the estate is privately owned and not regularly open to the public, it opens its doors to visitors on special occasions such as the Day of Castles and Palaces. The idyllic surroundings invite you to take a walk and soak up the historical atmosphere of Haus Empte.

    Information for cyclists
    Dülmen is an ideal starting point for extensive cycle tours in the Münsterland region. The region offers over 4,500 kilometres of well-developed cycle paths, which are connected by a practical junction system. This makes it easy to find your way around and enables you to organise individual tours along charming landscapes, historical sites and towns worth seeing.
    Haus Empte is nestled in beautiful Münsterland parkland. Approximately 4 kilometres away is junction 77.
    Cyclists can start their tour on the 100 Castles Route at this junction.

    By car:
    Coming from the A43 motorway
    Take exit 5 Dülmen-Nord and drive in the direction of Dülmen centre
    Continue on Nordlandwehr and Billerbecker Straße in the direction of Rorup until you reach your destination
    By public transport:
    Starting from the Münster (Westf.) local and long-distance railway station
    Take the RE42 in the direction of Recklinghausen
    Get off at Dülmen station
    Change to ANrufsammeltaxi T65, Bus 565 or Bus 660
    Get off at the Weddern Schule stop
    2 kilometres on foot
    Parking
    Access to Haus Empt is possible via the L580 country road. There are no signposted parking facilities.
