The start and finish is the Durbeke forest house near Altenbeken. Follow the mustard-colored markings of the Durbeke trail around Kobbennacken, Holschenberg, Neuwaldsberg, Sommerberg and Mühlenberg.
Easy to moderately difficult hike. Not suitable for wheelchair users and baby carriages.
The approximately 2,600-hectare natural heritage forest is the largest area in Germany for the development of beech forest wilderness outside of a national park. The natural processes in the forest ecosystem are being given new space here. Together with the Senne and the Teutoburg Forest, the northern Eggegebirge is one of a total of 30 biodiversity hotspots in Germany selected by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). They are the treasure troves of nature in Germany.
A33, exit Paderborn-Zentrum, continue on the B 64 towards Höxter, exit Neuenbeken, continue on the L 755 towards Altenbeken, turn left Durbeke
