Tip
The approximately 2,600-hectare natural heritage forest is the largest area in Germany for the development of beech forest wilderness outside of a national park. The natural processes in the forest ecosystem are being given new space here. Together with the Senne and the Teutoburg Forest, the northern Eggegebirge is one of a total of 30 biodiversity hotspots in Germany selected by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). They are the treasure troves of nature in Germany.
