Hammerhof Forest Information Center (Warburg Scherfede)
Hammerhof Forest Information Center (Warburg Scherfede)
Directions
From the forest information center, the route takes you through the lower part of the bison enclosure. After a short detour to the bison tower, the route leads through the Schwarzbach valley up to the sea of cliffs and rocks and from there down to Hardehausen Monastery. You return to the starting point along the Hammerbach stream.
Tip
The Hammerhof Forest Information Center is home to a state environmental education facility with changing exhibitions. From the bison tower, you have an overview of the 170-hectare bison enclosure. The endangered bison, back-bred tarpan horses, white red deer and wild boar live here.
The former Cistercian monastery in Hardehausen is still a building complex worth visiting today.
