RadKulTour Rödinghausen

The route starts and finishes at St. Bartholomew's Church in Rödinghausen. There is ample parking available in Rödinghausen. If you are arriving by train, the Neue Mühle train station to the east of the town center is a good starting point. From the center of Rödinghausen, the route first leads uphill towards the Wiehengebirge and runs parallel to the edge of the forest for a while. Here you can already enjoy a beautiful view over the Ravensberg hills. After a short while, the route turns south and now leads downhill to the Kilverbach stream. At 107 hectares, the Kilverbachtal nature reserve is the largest in the municipality and provides a habitat for the kingfisher, among others. The hilly route continues past the manor house of Haus Kilver to the small farming village of Westkilver with its beautiful St. Michael's Church. Here, the route bends to the east and leads past half-timbered cottages into the Vossholz, a large contiguous forest that is rarely found in the intensively farmed district of Herford.

East of the wooded area is the listed Böckel estate, a former manor house. From here, the circular route heads north again through Bieren and Dono, where an old school and the farm bell can be visited. The route now heads straight towards the Wiehengebirge mountains again and the terrain climbs steadily up to the edge of the forest. The reward for your efforts is a particularly beautiful view of the landscape from here. The route continues via Neue Mühle station to Stukenhöfen, where you will find a restored and listed farm bell. Afterwards, there are some beautiful half-timbered farms along the way before reaching the center of Rödinghausen again.

This scenically attractive circular route mostly leads along asphalted side roads or roadside cycle paths, so there is hardly any traffic. However, the route is characterized by numerous inclines, so the Rad KulTour Rödinghausen is only conditionally suitable for families with small children. A sporty attitude is definitely recommended for this route. Overall, this route offers an attractive environment and good infrastructure. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments and rest stops.
