    !!! Attention - road closure and relocation !!!

    As the section between Marienmünster Abbey and Born will be extended with a cycle path this year. The hiking trail will be relocated.

    However, the relocation will not lead to any loss of quality but will open up new exciting paths. It will be some time before the paths are laid out and the new markings are in place.

    Narrow paths, impressive forest edges and romantic details make up the Niese Valley Trail between Marienmünster Abbey and the picturesque town of Schwalenberg. Hike around 25 km through the varied cultural landscape in the north of the Höxter district.


    The namesake Niesebach meanders from its source on the Köterberg to the Emmer, into which it flows. At Kollerbeck, the stream is idyllically framed by two mountains. Further downstream, the landscape changes to a wide and hilly landscape.

    The circular hiking trail, which is around 25 km long, is at least as varied. Mainly along narrow meadow paths and forest trails, the trail connects Marienmünster Abbey and the picturesque town of Schwalenberg. You will cross the Niese and its smaller and larger tributaries several times on the hike.
    Pastures framed by hedges, small-scale farming and beautiful paths through changing forest scenery make this somewhat longer hike a tour for the soul.

    There are quiet rest areas near Kollerbeck and Born for an extensive regional picnic.
