Forested hills, districts with grandiose residences, a narrow valley and in the midst of it all a suspension railway: experience the unique charm of Wuppertal.

Experience the unique charm of Wuppertal

More than just a suspension railway: Explore Wuppertal on a motorcycle

The river on your right, the road ahead of you, the suspension railway above you and, running over it, the train: welcome to Wuppertal, a paradise for history buffs, culture vultures and motorcycle enthusiasts. Right after the Sonnborn junction, you’ll delve into a completely different world.

Zooviertel is pleasantly quiet, but Arrenberg is a different story. The former working class district is now an important creative centre. More and more artists and liberal thinkers are settling here - almost in the city centre, but not quite.

Over the river is the Briller Viertel, home to the city’s wealthier residents. A little further east is the Mirker train station which has recently reinvented itself as a co-working space and event venue. The perfect place for a pit stop.

In Barmen, follow the Wupper and the suspension railway through the elongated centre of the valley. Particular places of interest are the Landgericht suspension railway station, the Steinweg Viaduct and Immanuelskirche, which is now a cultural centre.

Wuppertal has a distinct urban flavour. But of course it doesn’t end there: Forests and meadows are just a stone's throw away. And if that’s not the perfect opportunity for a motorcycle ride through the Bergisches Land, the route through Beyenburg and Schwelm back to Vohwinkel takes you past old factories and modern businesses as well as over gently rolling hills and through peaceful forests. In short: sheer diversity on two or four wheels awaits you here.
