Elsoff, Dorfplatz or Christianseck, Struthbach car park
Directions
Through dense spruce forests, we come to Hermannstein, the highest elevation in the Garsnachtal valley at 610 metres. We reach Hof Teiche and see the village of Christianseck. Because of the scenic beauty of the village, Christianseck is also known as Wittgenstein’s Switzerland.
We go west to Schüllar and from Hof Burg we hike past the area damaged by storm Kyrill to Kreisstraße, which leads on to Wunderthäuser Sohl. We then go via Jochumskopf to the highest point in Siegen-Wittgenstein, the 789 m high Gorges. W
We then arrive at the Pastorenwiese ski hut, where we can turn off onto the historical and cultural path from Wunderthausen. Then over Haiskopf past the windmills in the Hessian district to Heiligenholz.
After passing through the forest, we arrive at a view out over the beautiful Elsofftal valley. We then go down into the Inselbachtal valley along gentle winding paths. The trail takes us past farms in idyllic isolated locations. We see magnificent views of the Wittgenstein hill country time and time again.
After about 10 kilometres, we arrive back at the Bundessilberdorf Elsoff (federal silver medal-winning village). The trail runs along a meadow path to the pretty timber-framed hamlet.
