The Heckenlandroute leads you through varied green landscapes, both up and down. Walk in the valley along the Rur or enjoy the view of the Rur valley from high above. Pure nature through the mixed forests of the Eifel.

The varied day tour leads left and right of the Rur through the Monschauer Heckenland cultural landscape, over the Eicherscheider plateau, from which one enjoys a kilometre-wide view, to striking rock formations such as the "Uhusley" and high vantage points, which offer fantastic views over the Heckenland or the winding Rur Valley.Worth seeing are the many beech hedges that protect the hiker from the often brisk Eifel winds on the heights. Designed by our forefathers to protect pastures and fields from strong winds, beech hedges are nowadays often replaced by thuja, yew or privet hedges because of their time-consuming care. It is precisely because of the uniqueness of beech hedges that you should enjoy this hike. About halfway along the route the Eifelsteig accompanies the tour through the Rur valley.

Highlights along the way:

- hedgerow country

- forest landscape

- The Rur Valley

- Beautiful viewpoints

- Mullion Structure Rock in Dedenborn
