Racing bike tour - from the Rhine to the Erft

A relaxed tour from the Rhine to the Erft rivers

Along the way, there’s a stretch of foothills to be overcome; otherwise, the tour, which is set out by the Radtreff Campus Bonn (RCB; the Campus Bonn cyclists club), largely runs along the flat, from Bonn-Oberkassel to the other side of the Rhine, to the Erft river and back again. Naturally, one requirement for an enjoyable tour is a racing bike with good tyres, while despite bike navigation appliances, a fairly good sense of orientation also won’t hurt. The route stretches over 72 kilometres, on roads that mainly have low traffic and well-developed field tracks for agricultural vehicles - at an altitude of around 300 meters.
