Prüm - St.Vith (Ostbelgien)

The Eifel-Ardennes Cycle Route moves freely across the Belgian and German borders, starting in the cultural town of Prüm and continuing through the Prüm Valley as far as Pronsfeld. Before you begin your journey, it is worth spending some time in the quaint little town of Prüm, with its St Salvator basilica, the town’s landmark. Keep your eyes open as you set off along the cycle route towards Bleialf. In the Alfbach Valley, the attentive cyclist will experience a very unusual spectacle – with a bit of luck, you might be able to spot a beaver building a dam on the edge of the path. Later on, in the village of Bleialf, don’t miss the impressive entrance of the disused lead mine known as ‘New Hope’, which is now a visitor’s attraction. From here, the path goes down a 400 metre long tunnel and through picturesque valleys to the River Our, which also forms the border with Belgium. The path then continues to St. Vith in Belgium, a town with plenty of opportunities to relax in a pleasant atmosphere. If you really want to relax and switch off, you should plan in an overnight stop here before continuing on your way back to Prüm.
