Hille, an idyllic rural community neighboring the city of Minden, is located in the heart of the Mühlenkreis district.

It is widely known for its windmills located on the "Westphalian Mill Road", the former landmarks of this region, and the "Großes Torfmoor" nature reserve, the largest raised bog area in Westphalia.

The 102.99 km2 municipal area stretches from the northern slopes of the Wiehengebirge to the North German Plain and is crossed by the Mittelland Canal in an east-west direction.

The mountain range with its varied coniferous and deciduous forests, wild plants and animals is especially worth seeing in spring or fall. The Wiehengebirge has been part of the "Northern Teutoburg Forest / Wiehengebirge" TERRA VITA nature park since 1962. Since 2015, the Wiehengebirge has held the "Unesco Global Geopark" designation awarded by Unseco.
