train station Schladern
train station Au (Sieg)
Directions
The first step is a visit to the museum village and the castle ruins. To warm up, use the asphalted access path on the railway embankment and climb a steep path to the castle ruins at the museum village in Altwindeck - this was a strategic base for the county of Berg for centuries. Today the castle complex impresses with an unforgettable panoramic view. Through a ravine you reach a quiet mountain forest. Steeply down, over stepping stones through the Westertbach and two more climbs, then you reach the Bachmühle in Rosbachtal with the opportunity to stop off. An exciting trail that becomes increasingly steep and rocky leads to the Alter Stuhl viewing point. At almost 280 m high, the climb is not an alpine challenge, but the view is still exceptional and worthwhile. Fully seen, it goes down into the Burgbachtal and later through the Auer Forest with 200-year-old oak giants before reaching the end of the stage, the train station in Au.
