Your tour starts directly on an idyllic field path along a series of fragrant meadows through the quiet Mengbach valley. Here, the eponymous stream bubbles merrily through the small valley, which is kept open by regular mowing. The route leads slightly uphill; ancient oaks line the path. In summer, the air is full of bird songs and butterflies add splashes of color. A narrow forest path takes you through a forest area characterized by reforestation to the "Gecksbitze". On the ridge of the hill, you will discover a lonely orchard surrounded by deciduous forest. After a few hundred meters of forest path, an extensive, sunny hillside meadow offers the opportunity for a long rest. The small Storcker Hut invites you to have a picnic there. From here, the view sweeps far across the meadows down to Eitorf and the wooded heights of the Leuscheid. Before you reach the starting point again on a quiet asphalt path, the last stretch of the path downhill is lined with one orchard after the other. The trees in the meadows bear different, sometimes old, varieties of fruit and are considered biotopes worth protecting: according to experts, up to 5,000 different plant and animal species live in an orchard!
