Hikers' parking lot at the Ittenbach military cemetery (clockwise hike recommended)

As the name suggests, we hike along streams and discover a landscape that shows the experienced Siebengebirge hiker new sides of Königswinter.

We start at the military cemetery in Ittenbach, which is well worth seeing, and first take in the noise of the A 3 and the ICE route to head towards Gräfenhohn in Laagsbusch. Here too, on the edge of the built-up area, there is a parking lot for hikers, which is somewhat hidden and can serve as a starting point. Now the traffic noise has long since disappeared and we are greeted by a lovely stream valley that never ceases to amaze us with the surprisingly quiet valleys in the Siebengebirge. At the end of the Laubach valley, we cross the Pleisbach in Nonnenberg and enter the Heisternbusch along a meadow, which offers a great view back to the Oelberg. Light, high deciduous forest accompanies us on the way to Hühnerberg. Shortly after leaving the forest, we come to the conveyor belt that transports the quarried stones from the Hühnerberg quarry to the loading station. The view of the Siebengebirge panorama alone is worth the hike. In Quirrenbach, we come across another chapel on the chapel hike and tackle the next stream crossing. After the wooden bridge over the Quirrenbach, we turn right to follow the stream uphill to the right after a few hundred meters. We reach the bend in the L 143, which we follow briefly downhill to reach the Logebach valley. We follow this until we pass under the highway and then walk past the Laagshof towards the military cemetery. It is a surprising hike with lots of nice little encounters with the other Königswinter.

Details

The paths are largely tarred or well graveled. From the bridge in Nonnenberg on a forest path for 500 meters, then forest path to the forest exit. The path after Quirrenbacher Mühle along the Quirrenbach can be muddy after rainfall and in fall and spring.

Your rucksack should be well filled, as there are no refreshment stops on the hike, but there are great places to sit down, eat what you have brought with you and enjoy the view

Military cemetery, great views, Quirrenbach Chapel; one of the most beautiful hikes off the beaten track in the Siebengebirge nature reserve
