Hikers' parking lot at Servatiushof (clockwise hike recommended)

The starting point for this hike is the Servatius Chapel near Bad Honnef-Aegidienberg. We set off on a tour along the streams and sieves in the Siebengebirge mountain range.

We park in the hikers' parking lot at Servatiushof and walk through the chestnut avenue up to the forester's lodge and the chapel and take the direction to Himmerich. After a short distance, we leave the Stellweg, which comes from Rhineland-Palatinate, to the right and left and only turn north at the “Drei Eichen”. Unfortunately, a tarmac road leads us down into the Schmelztal valley, but the path with its chestnut trees and small stream is flooded with light and makes for a pleasant walk. Once we reach the bottom of the valley, we turn off the road onto a forest path that leads us down via the Ellenbruch hiking parking lot to the Einsiedlertal hiking parking lot. Before doing so, we have to cross the busy L 144 in Schmelztal. From the hikers' parking lot, we ascend through the Einsiedlertal valley with its tall, sparse beech trees to the weir hut at the Frühmesseiche. Attentive hikers can still see remnants of mining in the pools on the left, protruding from the bluish water in the valley. The Wehrhütte is located at one of the most important hiking hubs in the Siebengebirge and invites us to take a break. After the Wehrhütte, we turn south on the Stellweg, walk along the dead straight forest path to Kohlstraße, where we turn sharply north. After walking along the tarred road for approx. 400 m, we turn right at a bench and the bridle path into the Höveler Steig. After 200 m, we pass thick, slightly corked Douglas fir trees and reach the steeper descent into the Logebachtal valley. There we walk through a picturesque meadow valley, with a shelter called Schneewittchenhütte, back to the parking lot.

Apart from the sections of the trail along the L 144 Schmelztalstraße and the Höveler Steig, which are forest paths, the paths on this hike are tarred or gravelled. Through the Logebach valley, the gravel is covered by a layer of sand and is therefore easy to walk on. Please note: At the end of the route, please cross the road and take the steps to the Servatiushof access road to get back to the parking lot. Do not walk along the road!
