Eitorf train station
The starting point for the circular route is the Eitorf train station. The short section through the city center offers good opportunities to stock up on some provisions. The tour then leads along the Eipbach - a lively watercourse that still powered the traditional "Baust Mill" in the 19th century. At the former mill building, the path leaves the city center: idyllic sheep pastures set the tone for the nostalgic theme of the hike. After changing sides of the slope, the ascent begins with a long path through lush deciduous forest below the Eitorf golf course. To reach the extensive Mierscheider Heights, you cross the country road in the Eipbach valley and hike steadily up the mountain on a historic connecting path. The subsequent route on lonely streets and field paths through the gentle pasture landscape with orchards and quaint half-timbered villages offers a nice contrast. Up here you can enjoy numerous picturesque views. Afterwards, a light stretch of path with pine trees provides fragrant forest air, blueberries line the path, a romantic pavilion offers the opportunity to rest - the highest point of the hike has been reached. Back downhill, a narrow path winds its way in tight serpentines on soft forest floor past the mysterious Höhensteine towards Eitorf. Following the view of the Sieg valley, the path continues between gnarled pasture fences into the city. On the way back to the train station, Eitorf shows its green side once again - the historic "Siegpark" park dates back to the Wilhelminian era.
