From the starting point at the "Im Bungert" car park, you hike towards the town centre. The Romanesque west tower of the parish church of St. Peter helps with orientation. A look inside the church is particularly worthwhile because of the 15th century frescoes. Opposite is the former "Hotel Glasmacher", which once went down in local history as a court of muses for Rhenish artists. After a walk through the village, follow the red markings over narrow paths and stairs to a high path. From the ridge you come to a beautiful viewing point in the forest, which is also used as a take-off point by paragliders. The route continues high above the valley, uphill and downhill on sometimes very narrow paths along the slope. Every now and then you have to cross a stream, mostly you walk under a dense canopy of leaves. You will soon come across the "Düsseldorfer Hütte" - a nice place to linger. After another section of the path, the tour leads back downhill to the valley floor. After crossing the Sieg over the railway bridge, numerous steps help on the steep climb. Once you reach the top, you hike along natural paths between orchards and pretty little houses to a viewing point with an impressive view of the valley. From there, a small road leads downhill and over a bridge to the idyllic Herchen spa park. You can relax on the lawns on the bank and visit the beautifully situated cafés and beer gardens. Or how about a trip down the river on a pedal boat?"

Shortcut option: From the Düsseldorfer Hütte you can descend to the Sieg, from there you can be back at the spa park in just a few minutes. (Be careful when crossing the road!)

A 560 towards Hennef, AS Hennef (Sieg) Ost – L 333 towards Eitorf, continue via Stromberg to Herchen.
