Wonderful forest world, with a sporty climb and great views!

The tour starts leisurely on the Sieg cycle path along the river through the Herchen spa gardens. A sporty climb soon follows, which rewards the effort with great views over the Siegtal. You can take a breather at the highlights of the route: at the basalt crater Blauer Stein in Kuchhausen or finally in the Stromberg oak grove with ancient trees and picnic areas by the river. In between lies NRW's most beautiful forestry area - the nature reserve "Wälder auf dem Leuscheid" with its well-trodden forest paths.

The short but very varied tour starts at the station forecourt at the Herchen Bahnhof stop. The RE 9 trains (Cologne-Siegen) and the S-Bahn lines S12 and S19 stop here. Free parking is also available. The health resort of Herchen is already signposted right at the train station. After just 300m the tour turns right and leads over the Sieg next to the railway line with a bicycle bridge. The route to Röcklingen is pleasantly flat and signposted as the Sieg cycle path. It's worth a stop in Herchen. The spa park and the building ensemble bear witness to a long tradition of local recreation in the Siegtal. Things get sporty from Röcklingen onwards. At the junction we follow the signs to Leuscheid. A total of 250 meters must be climbed to the highest point. Shortly before Ohmbach, it's worth taking a short break at the Heilbrunnen, which is located just a few meters from the path along the stream. At the sports field in Leuscheid we leave the signposted route and drive through the town center. GPS navigation is recommended here. At the Protestant church we keep right and follow the main street to Kuchhausener Kirchweg. Here we go back into the forest. It's only a short distance to the next highlight, the basalt crater Blauer Stein.

Behind the model airfield, directly on the state road, we reach junction 62 and follow the signs for Stromberg/Herchen Bahnhof/junction 61. From here it goes almost 5 kilometers downhill. The once dense forest now offers many views of the Siegtal. Once you have reached the bottom of the Sieg, numerous benches in the oak grove invite you to take a break. It is now not far to the starting point Herchen train station. The last 3 kilometers can be enjoyed in a relaxed manner on the Sieg cycle path.

The circular tour is not signposted.
