First mountain, then valley is the name of the game on the circular tour on the former mining railway route in the Brölbachtal.

The initial climb to the Wissener Kucksberg is short but quite steep. After a look at the impressive sand fields of the former Alfred Hut, the short tour leads on the medieval high-altitude highway “Alte Poststrasse” through deciduous and coniferous forest into the Brölbachtal, which is worth seeing. The area around Wissen is strongly influenced by the former iron ore mining. Today a path with impressive rock breakthroughs on a former mine railway route leads cyclists back to the Sieg.

We start directly on the Sieg, directly below Schönstein Castle, at the so-called Heubrücke. There isn't much time to "curl up". Shortly after crossing the Siegtalstrasse, which we are currently crossing, the tour takes us to the first long climb. If you then turn right towards the forest and the forced labor memorial, it is time to divide your strength carefully. Shortly behind the monument there is a left-hand bend and from here it goes steadily uphill, past the Wissen slag heap, further and further along thick oak trees up to the Alte Poststrasse. When you arrive at a rest stop, you can guess why the tour is called “Silent Post”: we find ourselves in the middle of the dense forests above the Sieg, silence and peace dominate here. Nevertheless, things continue to go uphill, although traditionally you can travel easily and make progress on the “Alte Poststrasse”. Even back then, the main connecting routes did not run in the often damp and flood-plagued river valley, but up along the mountain ranges and natural landmarks.

Shortly before the Hof Oettgesborn refuge, we reached the highest point of this tour at 313 above sea level. You really deserve a rest at this point. The forest makes room for orchards and offers a great view of the Victory Arch of Mittelhof. Deep down, victory shimmers.

We continue on constant ups and downs that are easy to drive up and down to the “Eiche am Wegkreuz”, where we leave the Alten Postweg and turn left onto a short counter climb. From now on it's time to “let it roll” down into the Brölbach valley. Shortly before the hamlet of Nimrod, turn left onto the route of the former mine railway in the Brölbachtal. The former route is a guarantee for pure nature experience and driving fun in equal measure. At the ford in the Brölbachtal we leave the railway line for a while and drive one kilometer down the stream on the K72 to the Mühlentahler mill, where we turn right and leave the road. Our route describes a long left-hand bend along the meadows of the Brölbach. We are now clearly back on the route of the former mine railway. This becomes a little more obvious in the narrow passages that were blasted out of the rock for the railway. Forest and meadows alternate, small streams are crossed, past cows and large stands of butterbur.

As you pass the motocross track area, you go uphill again and circle around a small industrial area near Brückhöfe - a hamlet in front of Knowledge. There we come across the K72 again, which we follow to the L278. We turn briefly right and then turn left again onto the cycle path that runs alongside Victory. After a bit on the cycle path, we turn right, take a short climb and then cross the Sieg in the middle of orchards on the right, over a bridge that is only permitted for bicycles and pedestrians. From there we continue straight on the K66 until we reach the Siegtal cycle path again on the main road, which leads left to Wissen. We drive past numerous shops and the Wissen train station past the center to the large roundabout. Here you turn right towards Schönstein Castle. There, in front of the impressive backdrop of the castle, we turn left over the Heubrücke and over the Sieg, which brings us back to the starting point of the tour.
