Emmer-Radweg

From Steinheim, follow Sedanstraße onto Nieheimer Straße and Buchentalsweg. At the junction after Ostwestfalenstraße, the route turns left through the Emmeroberlauf and Beberbach flora and fauna habitat area. The path leads back to Ostwestfalenstraße on Wiechersweg, where you keep left and reach Emmerweg. From here, the route leads to Höxterstraße, where you keep left and after a few meters turn right onto Schiederstraße. At the next junction, the route turns left onto Am Kuhkamp and after a few hundred meters leads onto Wöbbeler Straße. The route now turns right onto Friedenstalstraße and runs through Wöbbel. At the L886, the route turns right and leads along Detmolder Straße to Schieder. From Wallstraße, the route turns left through a wooded area to Schloßstraße, where the path turns left onto Parkallee. At the next junction, the route turns right and follows the road 'Im Emmerthal'. The path leads through a wooded area in the immediate vicinity of the SchiederSee, which is crossed on the road 'Am Staudamm'. Follow the road and after several hundred meters turn right onto the Emmerweg, which you follow through the forest for a few kilometers. The path then turns left onto Silberbrink and after a short time right onto the Fuchsholz road. The route leads onto Höxterstraße to Lügde. At the local history museum, turn right onto Vordere Straße and take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle onto Pyrmonter Straße. At the next junction, the route turns left onto Brunnenstraße, which becomes Emmerweg and leads through the nature reserve to Bad Pyrmont. From the Bad Pyrmont tourist information office, follow Südstraße and Bahnhofsstraße to the outskirts of Bad Pyrmont. At the train station, the route turns left and follows Lügder Straße for a few hundred meters, then turns into Dringenauer Straße towards Löwensen. In Löwensen, turn right under the S-Bahn line and then follow the road "In der Marsch" to Thal. Here the cycle path turns right and crosses the Emmer, leads through the village and then branches off to the left onto the L429, which takes you to the village of Welsede. Here the L429 branches off to the left and the cycle path continues straight ahead, following the course of the Emmer through meadows and along the edge of the forest. The tour passes the village of Amelgatzen on the opposite bank and follows the course of the river to Hämelschenburg. Hämelschenburg Castle, a building in the Weser Renaissance style, can be seen from afar and there is a café here where you can take a break. You then cross the Emmer again and continue along the opposite bank of the Emmer to Emmerthal, where the Emmer Cycle Path ends at the Weser bridge. Once you cross this, you can continue the tour directly on the Weser cycle path.

Fancy a shortcut? In every neighboring town there is the possibility to use the S-Bahn in both directions for the onward or return journey.

Steinheim has a train station on the east-west main line Hanover/Altenbeken/Paderborn with an hourly S-Bahn connection in both directions (travel time to Hanover Airport 70 minutes, to Paderborn 30 minutes (www.bahn.de), a train station in the Sandebeck district on the north-south Bielefeld/Kassel line.

Steinheim is located at the intersection of the B 239 (south/east - north/west route) and B 252 (Ostwestfalenstraße) as a north-south route.

The B 1 (east-west route) is also just 6 km away.

The optimal traffic connections via the 3 federal highways in all directions provide fast connections without traffic jams to the A 33 (approx. 30 km), A 2 (approx. 45 km) and A 44 (approx. 45 km).

Parking spaces are available directly at the train station in Steinheim, the starting point of the tour.
