Ahaus - Through all districts

Just 112 metres of total altitude are spread over a 48 km route. The highlights of the cycle tour are not mountains or hills, but the various districts of Ahaus with their small town centres, mills and well-tended gardens. The baroque castle of Ahaus is the obvious starting point.

Within sight of the district of Wessum, the cycle path heads north towards Alstätte. A detour into the town centres with their churches is definitely worthwhile. Accompanied by fields and meadows, the cycle tour turns south towards Ottenstein and follows the small Ölbach, one of the many watercourses in the western Münsterland. Shortly before the end of the cycle tour in the district of Wüllen, the Quantwicker Mühle is once again a real eye-catcher. The cycle tour describes a final loop and meets the city centre of Ahaus again from the south.

Ahaus railway station is approx. 1.2 km from the starting point of the cycle tour and is regularly served by trains from Dortmund and Enschede.

By car, take the A 31 motorway (Oberhausen-Emden) to the Ahaus/Legden exit. From the exit, follow the signs in the direction of Ahaus.

If you are already travelling by bike, you can orientate yourself at account point 86. From there it is only a few turns of the pedals to the starting point.

In Ahaus there are 10 pay and display car parks (P1 - P10) with numerous parking spaces available in the city centre area. On Sundays, the parking spaces are free of charge. In addition to paying at the parking ticket machine, the parking fee can also be paid by mobile phone.

Free parking is available on the outskirts of the city centre. The largest car park, the Kirmesplatz, offers 220 parking spaces.

The cycle tour is not separately signposted, but runs for the most part on the red and white signposted Münsterland cycle path system.

The use of a GPS track is recommended for navigation.
