Directions
Before starting the cycle tour, we recommend a walk around the beautiful Lüdinghausen Castle. The picturesque castle is beautifully embedded in a natural and park landscape and offers wonderful photo motifs.
The cycle tour starts at the "Lüdinghaus", Lüdinghausen's tourist information centre. After a few metres you reach the Klutensee. The gentle shores are ideal for bird watching. Wide fields and small wooded areas characterise the cycle tour to the imposing Kakesbeck Castle. The dimensions of the castle can only be guessed at from the path. The castle is one of the largest medieval fortifications in the region.
At Senden, the cycle path meets the Dortmund-Ems Canal and leads to Senden Castle. It is worth taking a detour into the castle park. A few minutes later you reach the beautiful Venner Moor. The water-rich and varied landscape offers tranquillity and a unique refuge for many animal and plant species. One of the best-known inhabitants is the adder.
The Davert nature reserve presents itself quite differently. With its unique oak forests and large woodpecker population, it is a unique natural jewel. In addition to the original inhabitants of the Davert, Konick horses and Heck cattle are now used as "animal and patient landscape carers".
Around the Ottmarsbocholt church at the latest, it is time for a break. Back in Lüdinghausen, the town centre and the picturesque Vischering Castle invite you to visit. The castle is one of the highlights of a trip to the region and houses a museum well worth seeing.
