Stage 4 leads from Dülmen to Olfen. The route begins with a ride across wide fields in the picturesque style of the Münsterland parklands to Sythen Castle and the Sythen watermill. The typical Westphalian castle complex made of red brick, a creaking wooden portal and rose-covered walls, has been preserved thanks to the great commitment of the citizens. In the course of time, the castle was rebuilt, demolished, was on the verge of decay and was then preserved by courageous citizens.
The tour continues south to the Halten reservoir. Surrounded by forests, the large lake is an Eldorado for water fans. There is a refreshment stop at the lake, as well as several picnic benches and opportunities to simply let your gaze wander.
Now the route makes a bend and continues eastwards. Here the Hullerner Stausee (reservoir) awaits you.
In the peaceful landscape there are circular paths with contemplative viewing spots to observe cormorants, great crested grebes, geese or other water dwellers all year round.
The tour continues and you can once again admire the fruity green or bright flowering yellow of the Münsterland fields.
At the Steveraue Olfen there is another natural highlight to marvel at. Heck cattle, Konik horses, Poitou and Catalan giant donkeys have found their common home here and also take exemplary care of the landscape. So it is not surprising that wild geese and storks are also frequent visitors to the wonderful floodplain landscape.
A few kilometres further on, the cyclists arrive in Olfen.

The Hohe Mark RadRoute is signposted throughout.
It is part of the junction system and can be recognised by the red/white signs. At intersections, arrow or destination signs guide cyclists in the right direction. Here cyclists will also find the Hohe Mark RadRoute logo with the green bicycle. Where the cycle paths only lead in one direction, there are regular rectangular intermediate signposts.
The Hohe Mark RadRoute makes it possible to take shortcuts via transverse bridges at four points - between Borken and Raesfeld and between Reken via Heiden and Dorsten. These are also part of the east, centre and west courses. The familiar route logo in reverse colour scheme (white bicycle on a green background) also guides you on the cross-paths.
