Directions
The cloverleaf tour starts directly at the tourist information office in Lüdinghausen. Within sight of the beautiful Lüdinghausen Castle, the cycle path runs in a southerly direction and quickly reaches the outskirts of the town. After a few kilometres, the green landscape is interrupted by the blue ribbon of the Dortmund-Ems Canal. For the next few minutes, the cycle path follows the canal before turning onto Alte Fahrt in the direction of Olfen.
An eye-catcher at the entrance to the town is the three-arch bridge. The bridge used to carry the canal over the Stever and Lippe rivers. Today, cyclists can enjoy a wonderful view of the Stever floodplain from here. The beautiful nature reserve with its stern cattle again gives the Stever room to shape the landscape.
For a break, a detour to the town centre of Olfen is recommended before the cycle tour continues into the picturesque Lippe floodplain. The nature reserve has been increasingly renaturalised in recent years, and the best view of the floodplain is from the viewing platform at the Lippe loop. At Ahsen, the cycle path turns north and leads back to Olfen in the western part of the Steveraue. A popular stopover is the Füchtelner Mühle mill with its nearby restaurant and café.
Accompanied by old beech and oak avenues, the cycle tour leads to Seppenrade. The rose garden there is a feast for the senses when it is in bloom. Beguiling fragrances and bright colours invite you to linger. Now it is not far to Lüdinghausen. If you haven't visited the castles of Lüdinghausen and Vischering and the old town before the cycle tour, you should definitely do so.
