Circular hike through the heathland in the Vordereifel
The Wanderather dream trail is a hiking trail for the senses! - And not just because it partly coincides with the Jodokus pilgrimage route. The trail leads through heathland and along forest and field paths into the Achterbach valley. Passing beautiful slate rocks in the Nitzbach valley, the trail soon enters the dense forest, passing an old quarry. Later, there is a great view of Virneburg Castle at the edge of the forest. Further uphill, you reach the juniper heath at the Hohe Warte. This is circumnavigated before the descent leads back to Wanderath.
